84 people in 11 quarantine centres

Imphal, April 26 2020:
Altogether 84 people are staying in 11 quarantine centres opened by the Government to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.
There are 454 beds in the 11 quarantine centres spread across different districts.
Till yesterday, 57 males and 27 females were in the 11 quarantine centres.
There is not a single person in any of the quarantine centres opened in Noney, Tamenglong, Kamjong, Pherzawl and Chandel districts.
In Imphal East district, 10 are being quarantined at the State TB Hospital; in Imphal West district one is being quarantined at UNACCO School, five are being quarantined at KGBV Thamnapokpi in Bishnupur district, seven are being quarantined at Bijang Circuit House, Churachandpur district, two at JNV Umathel, Kakching, 23 in Jiribam district hospital, four in EMRS, Gamnom-Sapormeina, Kangpokpi district; 26 in JNV Mao, Senapati district, one in Forest Rest House, Tengnoupal, four in GNM School Thoubal and one in Ukhrul district hospital.
The number of people currently under home quarantine till yesterday was 545.The total number of people put under home quarantine is 8051.So far 416 samples have been tested for COVID-19.14 samples were tested at RIMS and JNIMS yesterday and all of them turned out to be negative.
On the other hand, truck drivers, handymen as well as people who are coming back from other States after medical treatment are being screened at Mao and Jiribam.
Meanwhile, an office memorandum issued by Special Secretary (Home) H Gyan Prakash said that suspected cases or people who have come from COVID-19 affected areas would be put under institutional quarantine.
As per the standard operating procedure for institutional quarantine, persons put under institutional quarantine would be allowed to leave the quarantine centres for their homes only after completion of 14 days and they do not show any symptom of infection (by COVID-19) on examination by medical team.
Moreover, they should give an undertaking to stay in home quarantine for another 14 days apart from making his/her one travel arrangements.
