Imphal, April 26 2020:
All the State natives who have been stranded at different parts of India on account of the country-wide lockdown would be tested for COVID-19 as soon as they arrive in the State after the lockdown is lifted.
COVID-19 material management committee held a meeting this evening with its chairman and Additional Chief Secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar in the chair.
The meeting which was attended by officials of Health Department decided to procure all necessary testing kits before the lockdown is lifted, informed a source.
The meeting also decided to find out where the testing kits are available and identify companies which can supply the kits within the shortest possible time.
It is being speculated that 30,000 to 50,000 State natives are currently stranded at different parts of India.
As they would reach the State soon after the lockdown is lifted, the Government has been working to procure adequate number of testing kits in advance, said the source.
Notably, the State Consultative Committee on COVID-19 which is headed by the Chief Minister as chairman has already decided to open more quarantine centres in all districts.
