Celebrated footballers extend help to cope with COVID challenge in Bishnupur, Kangpokpi

All Moirang Football Association (AMOFA) Academy and several International footballers from Moirang Assembly Constituency has provided relief items to 60 football players who are undergoing training at the said academy, today.
Celebrated players like Subash Singh, Udanta Khuman, Dheeraj Moirangthem, M Thoiba, M Givson and women footballer Shilky Hemam and AMPOFA donated at their capacity to the family members of 60 young players who are from a weaker financial background family.
Each relief packages include rice, potato, onion, salt and edible oil.
Indian Super League player, Seiminlen alias Len Doungel, Goa FC striker from Bunglung village in Saikul Sub Division of Kangpokpi district and InSIDE North East, an NGO from Saikul extended help to the needy people of Saikul amid the pandemic COVID-19.InSIDE North East had conducted a ground assessment in the backdrop of the lockdown and identified more than hundred most vulnerable families in Saikul Sub-Division.
They are mostly widows, orphan, differently-abled persons, very poor families who do not have food stock even for a week.
The dry ration was distributed to more than 100 families and it took two days.
They also identified four orphanage homes in Kangpokpi district that need support at this critical juncture so that the children do not go to bed hungry and suffer from malnutrition.
The Goa FC striker and ISL player along with the team of InSIDE North East distributed dry ration to the identified families at Shom-Inn Academy, Saikul Hill Town which includes dry ration such as 15 kgs of rice, 1 kg of dal, 2 kgs of sugar.
Len Doungel not only physically participated in the distribution but also donated money for purchasing the dry ration- essential food items.
The ISL player also strongly advocated for peace saying that this is a time to love and not to discriminate.
He also urged everybody to maintain social distancing and wear a mask as a preventive measure.
Hejang Misao, Director of InSIDE North East said that the organisation is planning to reach out to more families both in hill and valley.
InSIDE North East as part of COVID-19 Emergency Respond Program also make a mask at its training centre for distribution to the people free of cost.
The organisation also spread awareness by printing COVID-19 pamphlet in collaboration with District Health Department of Kangpokpi and mobilized COVID volunteers in collaboration with district administration under Lalithambigai K, DC Kangpokpi.
