AR organises sanitization cum drinking water distribution drive, plants saplings

Keithelmanbi Battalion of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organised a sanitization cum drinking water distribution drive at Namching village of Imphal West District on Saturday.
As part of the drive, the team sprayed chemicals/disinfectants to the community hall, market area and other common usage areas of Namching village, said a statement of IGAR (S).
In addition, over 6,000 litres of potable drinking water was distributed to 90 families of the village to meet their daily household necessities, it said adding that the locals were also educated regarding various precautionary measures like regular hand washing, maintaining basic hygiene and sanitation, maintaining social distance and other precautions to be taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during the event.
On the other hand, Units of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organised a tree plantation drive at Mantripukhri Garrison and Kaimai village, Tamenglong on Apr 24 .
The drive was organised as part of the 'Green India Initiative' as a follow up of the World Earth Day, added the statement.
Saying that the battalion planted a total of 2,255 saplings of multiple varieties mostly fruit-bearing and long life span trees, it added that the saplings were prepared by the battalion in the newly created nursery.
It also said that Tamenglong Battalion planted 1100 saplings of different varieties at Kaimai village, Tamenglong on the same day.
During the drive, all COVID-19 precautionary measures, including social distancing, wearing of masks were followed.
