Cabinet resolves to replace AR with State forces at check-posts

The State Government has decided to approach the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding the Cabinet decision to deploy State forces in place of Assam Rifles troops at all check-posts opened along National Highways in the State.
Notably, the State Cabinet adopted a resolution last night to replace all AR troops manning check-posts with State forces.
Currently, the alleged harassment and molestation of a lady IPS officer by a personnel of 12 Assam Rifles at Khudengthabi check-post while she was returning from Moreh is a big issue in the State.

Briefing media persons today about the Cabinet meeting held last night, Education Minister and Government spokesman Th Radheshyam said that following strong reactions from different associations of IPS, IAS, IRS, IFF, MFF, MCS and MPS officers against the alleged harassment meted out to one lady officer posted in Thoubal by one AR personnel, the DGP has been talking with the AR authority to bring an amicable solution.
The State Cabinet deliberated the matter with utmost seriousness.
After considering all the plus points as well as the minus points, the State Cabinet decided to pull out AR troops from all check-posts and replace them with State forces, Radheshyam said.
The State Cabinet further resolved to send the same resolution to the Ministry of Home Affairs for due concurrence, said the Government spokesman.
As per the Cabinet resolution, all check-posts would be manned by State police and they would be assisted by CRPF personnel, if necessary.
AR troops would be assigned the tasks of securing the State's border, Radheshyam said.
With regard to the issue of alleged harassment of the lady IPS officer, the Chief Secretary and the DGP have been talking with the Assam Rifles authority to bring a solution, he said.
The Cabinet meeting gave its consent to prorogue the recent State Assembly session.
The State Cabinet agreed to extend one time grant-in-aid of Rs 50 lakh each to the I League qualified football teams of the State viz; NEROCA and TRAU.
In line with a directive from the Supreme Court and in view of the shortage of teachers, the State Cabinet resolved to give appointment to Hindi teachers whose case has been pending at Court for the past many years.
The State Cabinet further agreed to integrate SSA/RMSA teachers with the Education Department and regularise their service, said the Education Minister.
The Cabinet also approved the guideline for the School Fagathanshi Mission under which teachers posted at the 60 selected schools would be made non-transferrable for at least three years, apart from giving them necessary training.
Teaching aids would be given to these schools and their infrastructure would be further developed, Radheshyam said.
The Cabinet meeting further resolved to hike the wages/salaries of Home Guards after verifying all relevant documents including Aadhaar cards, he added.
