Imphal, October 24 2021:
After a day break, the daily Covid positivity rate has descended to 5 percent again in the State with the registration of 3.6 percent on Sunday.
The single day positivity rate rose above 5 percent on Saturday (5.9 percent) after a spell of 9 days (October 14 to 22) with 122 of the 2075 samples testing positive.
At least 63 new Covid cases were detected from among the 1,764 samples tested in the last 24 hours with the highest of 28 reporting from Imphal West.
The new Covid cases including 1 CAPF personnel were confirmed at RIMS (2), JNIMS (12) and other testing centres (49) while the positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (17), Imphal West (27), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (1), Kakching (1), Ukhrul (3), Chandel (3), Churachandpur (6), Senapati (2) and Kangpokpi (1) .
None of the districts reported a positive rate in double digit with the highest being 6 percent reported from Churachandpur.
Results of at least 6 out of 100 samples tested from Churachandpur in the last 24 hours returned positive.
In the same period, 4 Covid deaths were reported from Imphal West (3) and Chandel (1) .
Of the 4 deceased 3 had comorbidities.
With this figure, the death toll has risen to 1,911 with Imphal West having the maximum deaths of 637 and it is followed by Imphal East (453) and Bishnupur (189) .
Pherzawl so far has no cases of Covid fatality.
With the discharge of another 89 persons from Home Isolation (20), RIMS (2), JNIMS (5) and CCCs (62), the recovery rate has improved to 97.69 percent as compared to 97.67 percent updated yesterday while active cases has dipped to 931 .
The cumulative figure of Covid positive cases now stands at 1,23,292 .
On October 23, 724 D-type and 114 B -type oxygen cylinders were distributed to different health care facilities in Manipur and on the same day 10915 Covid vaccine doses were administered.
District wise, Jiribam still topped the vaccination rate with the district so far administering 101.64 percent of its eligible population with the 1st dose and another 55.98 percent with the second.
At the bottom is Senapati with the district administering only 17.91 percent of its population with the 1st dose and 10.3 percent with the second dose.
