On 6th day of total curfew Manipur logs 1248 new cases, 15 deaths

Imphal, July 23 2021:
On the sixth day of the total curfew which came into force from July 18, Manipur logged 1284 new cases and 15 deaths in the last 24 hours.
This is the third time for Manipur to log over 1000 cases on a single day, after the ten days total curfew came into force on July 18 .
On July 20, Manipur had totalled 1127 new cases and on July 21 the total was 1327 .
Today's total of 1284 cases is the second highest logged in a span of 24 hours in the State.
The 1248 new cases were detected out of a total of 6836 samples tested in the last 24 hours to take the daily positivity rate to 18.8 percent.
The 18.8 percent positivity rate on a single day is also the third highest recorded in 24 hours in the months of June and July this year.
On July 8, the State had recorded a daily positivity rate of 19.1 percent and on July 21, it was 19.4 percent.
With 1284 more testing positive for the virus, the total number of people who have contracted the disease has crossed the 90 thousand mark to now stand at 90262 including 3961 Central security personnel.
The Government has also notified that out of 83 samples sent for genome sequencing on July 1, 78 new cases were found to be of the Delta variant.
Fifteen more persons passed away due to the virus in the last 24 hours and out of the 15, only two have received the first dose of the vaccine, said the COVID-19 Common Control Room quoting a report from the State Level COVID-19 Deaths Audit Committee.
The 15 deceased persons were from Imphal West (7), Imphal East (2), Bishnupur (3), Kangpokpi (2) and Churachandpur (1) .
Of the 1284 persons who tested positive 675 were women, said the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
No Central security personnel were found positive during the same time span.
The 1284 persons were tested at RIMS (63), JNIMS (106), District Hospitals (860) and other testing centres (255) .
The persons who tested positive are from Imphal East (310), Imphal West (381), Thoubal (95), Bishnupur (117), Kakching (85), Ukhrul (14), Churachandpur (140), Chandel (51), Senapati (18), Tamenglong (34), Tengnoupal (17), Kangpokpi (9), Jiribam (5) and Noney (8) .
All necessary measures such as containment and contract tracing are in place, added the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
In the last 24 hours, 949 persons were discharged, including from home isolation (392), JNIMS (10), CCCs (155) and CHICs (392) .
However, for some reasons 776 persons were reported as discharged only today, said the COVID-19 Common Control Rooms and added that the total number of recovered cases is considered as 1725 after reconciliation with reports from IDSP team, home isolation team, community home isolation and hospitalisation teams.
The cumulative number of recovered cases is now 78,872 including 3894 Central security personnel and the recovery rate is 87.38 percent.
The number of active cases in Manipur as of now is 9,939 including 62 Central security personnel .
On July 22, the number of people vaccinated is 23,572 taking the total number to 11,34,710 .
The total includes 1,39,728 people who have received their second dose.
A total of 1862 D Type Oxygen cylinders and 388 B Type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health centres in the last 24 hours across the State.
