Three figure rise continues with 111 new cases

As many as 111 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in the last 24 hours while Congress MLA Md Fazur Rahim (50) has recovered from COVID-19 and is under home isolation at present.
Notably, 48 of the 111 cases have no significant travel history.
Of the total (111), 55 are from among the general population and 56 are personnel of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), said a report of the COVID-19 Common Control Room issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 spokesperson Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang.
The 55 cases from among the general population include 31 males and 24 females.
They hail from Imphal West (26 cases), Imphal East (18), Churachandpur (5), Kakching (2), Bishnupur (1), Thoubal (1), Chandel (1) and Pherzawl (1) .
Except the case from Churachandpur (5), Chandel (1), and Pherzawl (1), the rest 48 cases have no significant travel history.
They are being shifted to COVID Care Centres.
All necessary containment measures and contact tracing are in place, said the report.
On the other hand, 96 persons including MLA Md Fazur Rahim have recovered from COVID-19 and they have been discharged.
The recovered patients also include 66 personnel of the CAPF.
They were found negative for the virus on RT PCR test.
It may be noted here that MLA Md Fazur Rahim had tested positive for the virus on his return from Delhi on August 10 .
He is now under home isolation at his residential quarter at Babupara, Imphal, said the report of the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
The report further showed that the cumulative number of COVID-19 positive cases in the State has reached 4876 including 3599 from the general population and 1277 Central security personnel.
The number of recovered cases is 2885 (general population-2545 and Central security personnel-340) .
The number of active cases is 1973 including 1037 from among the general population and 936 Central security personnel.
The recovery rate now stands at 59.16 per cent.
Meanwhile, a late report from sources in JNIMS has confirmed 8 new COVID-19 cases.
However, their travel history and details are not known yet.
A total of 915 samples were tested at the hospital today, added the sources.
Sources with the district administration Imphal West also informed that at least 14 cases have been detected in the district on Rapid Antigen Test today.
At least 9 of them belong to Paona bazar area.
A police personnel from Jiribam has also tested positive today on RAT, said sources.
With these cases, the number of COVID-19 cases in the State has reached 4899 .
In Thoubal district, an employee of the SBI Thoubal branch has tested positive and the entire building has been sealed for 48 hours.
In addition, areas of Ukhongshang village, Heirok AC have also been sealed off and declared as containment zones after two residents tested positive.
Further, Wangjing High School has been designated as a quarantine centre exclusively for BSF personnel returning from leave.
