The Communist Part of India (CPI) has demanded that the money collected by the PM CARES Fund should be brought under public audit and made transparent.
In a statement issued by CPI today, it said that the National Secretariat of CPI feels that the Supreme Court verdict on PM CARES Fund is a blow to transparency and accountability.
It added that people have a right to know how the money us being spent and from whom it is collected.
The verdict of the SC has resulted in the continuation of opaqueness and urged the apex Court to reconsider its verdict.
On the other hand, in a separate statement, CPI has condemned the misuse of social media by the ruling dispensation to 'cater to its divisive and polarizing agenda'.
The party has demanded that the Government should take the Parliament into confidence in the interest of democracy and that the Parliament should evolve an appropriate mechanism in this regard.
Transparency, accountability and neutrality of a medium in expressing views is not Government vs opposition issue but a broader issue of public interest and concerns uploading democratic values, the statement added.
