Highest spike of 426 cases recorded on single day
Two more deaths take total death tally to 111

The State today recorded the highest ever single day spike of 426 COVID-19 positive cases and two more deaths.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, an 82-year old man from Imphal East died at Shija Hospital and a 63-year old woman from Chandel district succumbed to the virus at Jivan Hospital, Kakching during the last 24 hours.
Taking into account the two deaths, the COVID-19 death toll has reached 111 .
According to a bulletin issued by District Surveillance Officer, IDSP Churachandpur, two males died at the isolation of Churachandpur district hospital today.
The two were residents of College Veng, New Lamka and Zion Veng.
However, the two deaths reported from Churachandpur are not mentioned in the press release issued by the Health Department today.
In the meantime, 426 people including 10 personnel of CAPF were tested positive for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours at RIMS, JNIMS, Kamjong, Tengnoupal, Churachandpur, Bishnupur, Senapati, Thoubal, Jiribam, Swiss Hospital, Chandel, Public Hospital, Horizon Hospital, Imphal East, RD Wing, Imphal West, Raj Medicity, Jivan Hospital, Hillside Hospital, Babina Diagnostics, Mothers Care, Shija Hospital, Tamenglong, Ukhrul and Maipakpi Hospital.
Of the 416 who have been tested positive, 181 belong to Imphal West, 124 to Imphal East, 24 to Thoubal, one to Jiribam, five to Kamjong, two to Kangpokpi, three to Kakching, five to Ukhrul, three to Chandel, 26 to Tamenglong, 19 to Churachandpur, seven to Tengnoupal, one to Senapati and 15 to Bishnupur.
On the other hand, 198 COVID-19 people have been discharged during the last 24 hours from CAPF (43), home isolation (10), RIMS (4), JNIMS (16), RD Wing (6), CCC UNACCO (9), Sadbhavna (15), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (29), Lanva (12), Tamenglong (3), Lamding (8), Chandel (14), Kangpokpi (2), Thoubal (4), Jiribam (4), Bishnupur (12), Ukhrul (3) and Senapati (4).The cumulative figure of COVID-19 positive cases is 15,141 (general population 12,511, Central security personnel 2630) .
It includes 3587 active cases (general population 3277, Central security personnel 310) and 11,443 discharged cases (general population 9127, Central security personnel 2316).The recovery rate as on Saturday is 75.57 per cent.
Of the 26 people tested positive for the contagion, nine are personnel of 5 Assam Rifles and one is a police personnel.
According to a late report received here today out of the total people tested positive from Imphal West four are from Keishampat Hanglem Leikai.
Another 57 people tested positive late in the evening at Thoubal.
