Second highest one day spike recorded with 286, another succumbs

With 286 samples tested positive for COVID-19, the State recorded the second highest single day spike in positive cases during the last 24 hours which also witnessed the death of a woman due to the virus.
A 64-year old woman who was admitted to JNIMS on September 27 died at the hospital at around 11.45 am today.
Apart from being COVID-19 positive, the woman was also suffering from hypertension and kidney problems.
The official death toll stands at 69.Even as the IDSP Churachandpur, reported two deaths due to COVID-19 on September 26, the COVID-19 Common Control Room has not yet taken into account the two deaths in its official figure.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, 286 people including 60 personnel of CAPF were tested positive for the contagion during the last 24 hours at RIMS, JNIMS, Shija Hospital, Tamenglong, Bishnupur, Imphal East, Christian Hospital, Noney, Thoubal, Hill- side Hospital, Raj Medicity, Jiribam, Imphal West and Babina Diagnostics.
The civilians who have been tested positive are residents of Imphal West (73), Imphal East (103), Thoubal (4), Senapati (2), Jiribam (2), Bishnupur (4), Churachandpur (11), Tamenglong (12), Tengnoupal (8) and Noney (7) .
Out of them, 224 have no significant history of travelling outside the State.
In the meantime, 351 people were discharged during the last 24 hours from RIMS (3), CCC Bishnupur (15), CCC UNACCO (35), Noney (1), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (7), CCC Jiribam (1), JNIMS (8), Ukhrul (3), home isolation (1) and CAPF (277).The total positive cases have reached 11,397 (general population 9022, Central security personnel 2375) .
The total number of active cases is 2336 (general population 2008, Central security personnel 328) while 8992 (general population 6948, Central security personnel 2044) have been discharged so far following recovery from COVID-19 .
According to a late evening report received today, 133 positive cases were detected at JNIMS out of 665 samples tested.
Another 36 persons from Imphal West also tested positive late in the evening today.
