Cleanliness drives, rally & poster campaign in districts mark Gandhi Jayanti celebration

Cleanliness drives, rally, poster campaign were observed in the State, today to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation.
BJP
BJP Yaiskul Mandal and BJP Imphal Central District jointly observed International Cleanliness Day on Friday by carrying out a cleanliness drive at Shree Shree Govindajee Temple.
CAF & PD Minister, Th Satyabrata Singh; Deputy Chairman, State Planning Board, L Rameshwor Meitei; Imphal Municipal Corporation, Corporators, Ward No 18, L Inunganbi Devi; Ward no 20, L Tombi Devi; Ward no 14, S Rita Devi, Mayor, L Lokeswor Singh; president, BJP Imphal Central District, A Punyabanta Sharma; president, BJP Yaiskul Mandal, Kh Biswamittra Singh, and various Morchas and Cells leaders participated in the cleanliness programme.
During the programme, Th Satyabrata recalled the contribution of Mahatma Gandhi in the freedom struggle of Indian Independence.
His peaceful and non-violent means to unite India into fighting for freedom, gave him a reverential status in his lifetime, which continues even today, said the Minister.
Further, Satyabrata said that Gandhi was a devotee of truth and non-violence and in his honour, the UN General Assembly has announced this day as the International Day of Non- Violence on June 15, 2007 .
Earlier, the social service was inaugurated by Prof S Tikendra Singh, president, BJP Manipur Pradesh.

Senapati
Observing the Gandhi Jayanti, a cleanliness drive was carried out by the Karong Senapati Town Committee (KSTC), Senapati District Students Association (SDSA), Indian Red Cross Society, Senapati Branch and the Barak Heritage Foundation (BHF) at Senapati.
Speaking to media persons, A John, president of the KSTC lauded SDSA, the IRCS, Senapati Branch and the BHF for taking part in the cleanliness drive.
He further lauded the Barak Heritage Foundation for donating hand sanitizers and 500 face masks and the Senapati police for their concern to keep the town clean and for maintaining the parking lot at Senapati Town.
MS Jerome, executive secretary of the Barak Heritage Foundation, stated that BHF is a conglomerate of the people of Senapati including the Mao, Maram Poumai, Thangal and Zeliangrong.
All departments under the District Administration and all colonies under Karong Senapati Town also observed the National Cleanliness Day by cleaning their surrounding areas.
The Karong Senapati Town Committee also distributed 40 sets of uniforms to the volunteers of the Indian Red Cross Society, Senapati Branch.
It also expressed gratitude to the MANEDA Hope Centre, and the women vendors of the district for their good response.
Bishnupur
As part of Gandhi Jayanti, District Administration Bishnupur organised a mass rally and a poster campaign on "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" here, today.
The rally was flagged from in front of the DC office complex and culminated at Bishnupur Keithel.
Posters encouraging girl education were also fixed on both sides of the Tiddim Road and at the surrounding areas of Bishnupur Keithel.
District Programme Officer ICDS Bishnupur Th Shantibala; CDPO Bishnupur Th Suranjoy Singh and CDPO Moirang, H Roshni Devi attended the programme as presidium members.
Different Anganwadi Workers, Helpers and subordinate staff of the department took part in the programme.
Placards that read "Save the Girl Child, Save Human Race", "Daughters are Angels of God on Earth","Girls are the Origin of Human Race", "Girls are the Hope of Tomorrow" and others were used during the rally.
Noney
In connection with the Gandhi Jayanti, "National Cleanliness Day, a social service campaign cum cleanliness drive was jointly organised by BJP Tamenglong District, Kissan Morcha, Yuva Morcha & Mahila Morcha at Longmai (Noney) Dist HQ, & Tupul.
The social service started from Longmai (Noney) Bazar.
Disinfectants were also sprayed at places declared as containment zones.
Apart from spraying disinfectants, tree saplings were also planted at the campus of Noney Tengkonjang Hr Sec School.
Essential items were also handed over to Dr Thaimei Gairanlung, DMO Longmai (Noney) Dist by a social worker, Gaidon Kamei.
Phunggan Phaomei, president BJP Tamenglong; Ading Golmei, Vice-president, Tamenglong & Noney , Poudinlung Riamei, secy (org) BJP Tamenglong, representatives of Yuva Morcha & Mahila Morcha of Tamenglong, members of Longmai Village Authority, Longmai Bazar Board and local youth club took part in the programme.
BJP 53, Tamennglong Mandal also observed the birth anniversary of MK Gandhi at Luangchum (Awangkhul) Part-1.M Bhorot Singh, former president BJP Manipur Pradesh; Th Yumjao Singh, district in-charge BJP, Tamenglong and Huri Golmei, BJP's intending candidate to 53 AC Tamenglong graced the function as chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
Huri Golmei donated dustbin, brooms, face masks and hand sanitisers for the social service which was organised at Awangkhul Bazar.
A similar observance was also held at New Chayang Village, Chandel and Loikhom VLF Office, Tengnoupal.
