Imphal, October 02 2020:
Khurai Assembly Constituency MLA, L Susindro today formally inaugurated and handed over two RCC bridges built at Khabeisoi and Khumidok over Kongba river to the public.
The newly constructed RCC bridges were constructed in place of the earlier wooden structures and were named respectively after freedom fighters Singa Dewan Chaoba and Ipham Sangdrok Munsi from Khabeisoi and Khumidok who took part in the 1891-Khongjom War.
Speaking at the occasion, Susindro expressed happiness that a long standing dream of people of Khabeisoi and Khumidok areas to see upgraded form of bridge has materialised during his tenure as an MLA.
While urging the people of the two areas and the Khurai AC at large not to cause trouble while taking up developmental works, he boldly asked all not to vote him in the future if works undertaken by him are not satisfactory.
He also expressed his desire to build an idgah (place where Namaj is offered) at Khabeisoi-Khumidok area and sought support from the public to help realise his objective.
He also urged all to find a suitable area of about 1 pari for expeditious construction of the same during the event.
The MLA who is also the Chairman of both the MSPDCL and LDA, also lamented that three major rivers of the State pass through Khurai AC but not a single project for construction of retaining wall has been taken up by Irrigation and Flood Control Department (IFCD) till date.
Saying that IFCD and other related departments are not working efficiently particularly in the AC, Susindro said that only one project for 'Premi Khong' has been included in the IFCD work programme since he became the MLA of the AC.
That project is also in a failed state with the contractor concerned carrying out substandard work "using bamboo frames and wall" in place of iron and unnecessary raising of wall, he alleged.
He further charged that the Forest Department is also among the inconsiderate departments.
