State celebrates Gandhi Jayanti

The 151st birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the Nation celebrated all across the Nation as Gandhi Jayanti on October 2nd was also observed in the State.
The Manipur Public Service Commission observed the day with a due solemnity and respect at the MPSC Hall-1, North AOC, Imphal.
The function was attended by its Chairman Lt Gen (Retd) L Nishikanta Singh as chief guest and Ng Roben Singh, Secretary MPSC as the guest of honour.
All officers and staff of MPSC paid floral tribute and took a pledge to follow the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion.
Moreh Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with Jehovah Jireh Children Home, Moreh.

Assam Rifles provided assistance by presenting sewing machines and other essential tools to help them establish a small hand made mask factory.
Apart from this, tree plantation drive was also conducted at JJ Homes.
BJP Wangkhem Mandal observed the day by conducting social service camp at Yairipok Keithel and surrounding areas.
