Jiribam/Silchar/Hojai, September 30 2018: People in Jiribam today recalled the life and contributions of Jana Neta Hijam Irabot on his 122nd birth anniversary.

Apart of the celebration people in Jiribam paid their tributes to the leader who strived for a better social change in Manipur.

In connection with the birth anniversary of Hijam Irabot, students contingent of various schools of Jiribam march parade and paid salute at the statues.

Altogether 24 students contingent of boys and girls took part in the parade as well as cultural troops of Inungnganbi Manipuri Dance Academy displayed their cultural dance.

Thereafter, a commemoration Programme was held at Jiribam Higher Secondary School Auditorium.

The programme was graced by Th.Shyam Kumar Singh, Honble Minister MAHUD /Forest, Government of Manipur as a Chief Guest while Dr.Chandam Kamal Singh, Life Time President, JIMET, Jiribam as a functional president; K.Saratkumar Singh, General Secretary (Adm) .

Superintendent of Police, Jiribam District and K.Jadumani Singh, Social Worker shared the dais as guests of honour.

At the onset of the programme, Th.Shyam Kumar lighted the candle.

Followed by welcome address delivered by Th.Somorendro Singh, Advisor, JIMET.

Professor Jiribam College; S.Komlakanta Singh, Social Worker, Cachar, Assam briefly talked about the life of Irabot and his contributions for better social change in Manipur.

K.Sarat Kumar, General Secretary (Adm.), BJP Manipur Pradesh said Hijam Irabot was a versatile leader of all sections of people, we should imitate his quality.

He added, Irabot was also a leader who makes effort for the development of community.

For his noble initiatives today we recalled him on his 122nd Birth Anniversary.

Sarat also requested to all, if we want to achieve success in any regard, then we need to take the decision unitedly.

"We have to discuss every matter minutely and it is the responsibility of everyone of us", He added.

Thereafter, he said not to spread any news and views in social media personally before it's authenticity.

He requested if any wishes and desire have, then convey the matter to the government.

The present BJP led government of Manipur always ready to serve the people at level best.

On the speech of Chief Guest, Th.Saratkumar Singh, Minister of MAHUD/Forest, Government of Manipur said Hijam Irabot was such personality who also shown the nation the identity of Manipuri Community." Today the Government of Manipur observed the day showing tribute to the life time achievement of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot ", He added.

He also appealed to all to remember such great soul forever.

The 122nd Birth Anniversary of Hijam Irabot was also observed at Shilchar , Hojai and Tripura .

The observance held at Silchar, Retd.Prof.Okram Churamani, Soyam Lokendrajit Singh Retd Prof MU and Former MLA of Assam Dipok Bhattacharjee attended as dignitaries.

The Hijam Irabot Smriti Raksha Committee,Silchar observed the 122nd Birth Anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot Singh at Gandhi Bhavan in Silchar,Cachar.

In a morning session of the day long event , many intellectual brigades, CSO leaders, women organisations leaders and students organisation leaders paid floral tributes to the statue of Hijam Irabot laying in Irabot Sarani Silchar near Itkhola.

In a open session of the event, Irabot Smriti Raksha President Prof.Okram Churamani chaired the function as functional President while Prof.Soyam Lokendrajit , formerly Dean of the School of Humanities,Manipur University, Canchipur and Comrade Dipak Bhattacharya ,former CPI MLA were also graced as special talker and guest respectively.

While speaking on the occassion, Advocate Dulal Mitra, who is also a secretary of the Irabot Smriti Raksha Committee Silchar opined that Hijam Irabot is not only the leader of Manipuri but he is also a versatile social reformist.

He also claimed Hijam Irabot was a favourite leader amongst the non Manipuri communities of Barak Valley.

"Irabot contributed a lot for the deprived sections of the society while he was in Silchar " Dulal further added.

It can also be noted that Good known Comrade and a former president of Irabot Smriti Raksha Committee, Silchar Dipak Bhattacharya was also conferred with Hijam Irabot Memorial Award by the said Committee in a event.

The event was consisted of mass rally, cultural extravaganza and discussion on Hijam Irabot.

At Hojai in Assam, Manipuri Kala Krishti Kendra, Papal Pukhri (Lanka) Hojai organised the day.

Manipur's Minister Karam Shyam, MLA Th.Satyabrata, MLA H.Dingo, Co Convenor of JCILPS Yk.Dhiren and Secretary General of UPF Niranjan Usham attended as dignitaries.

Protection and Preservation Committee Manipur in collaboration Manipuri Council Tripura also observed the day at Dhaleswar and Lansing Mora of Tripura and Lansing Mora.
