Positive cases continue to surge with 380 more in last 24 hours

Imphal, May 06 2021:
Manipur reported highest single day toll of 13 deaths due to COVID-19 with as many as 380 new infections today.
On May 5 and earlier on Novmber 29 last year, the State had reported 10 deaths, which was then the highest on a single day.
The death toll due to the disease has reached 447 while the total number of positive cases has touched 33,733 including 2,991 active cases, said a report of the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
The 13 deaths in the last 24 hours include 2 women and 11 men.
They died at JNIMS (4), RIMS (3), Shija Hospital (2), Bal Bhavan (1), District Hospital Churachandpur (1), Jivan Hospital (1) and Rajmed (1) .
Imphal West district recorded 5 deaths, while Imphal East and Bishnupur recorded 4 and 2 deaths respectively.
Churachandpur and Kakching one deaths each.
The five casualties from Imphal West district include one 52-year-old woman and the rest were men aged 45, 50, 55 and 75 .
The four who died of COVID-19 from Imphal East were men aged 40, 78, 80 and 66 .
The two casualties from Bishnupur district were a 46-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman.
The two Covid victims from Kakching and Churachandpur were a 67-year-old man and a 55-year-old man respectively.
Meanwhile, the 380 new Covid cases detected in the last 24 hours include 362 from general population and 18 personnel of the Central Armed Police Force, said the report of the Covid control room issued by Additional Director, Health, Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang.
The 362 from the general population hail from Imphal East (116), Imphal (170), Churachandpur (29), Kakching (23), Tamenglong (5), Thoubal (5), Bishnupur (4), Kangpokpi (4), Ukhrul (4), Senapati (1) and Noney (1) .
The Covid positive persons including the Central paramilitary personnel were tested at Babina Diagnostics (95), JNIMS (62), Escent Diagnostics (54), Churachandpur (43), Imphal West (29), Shija Hospital (20), RD Wing (12), Jivan Hospital (12), Kakching (11), Imphal East (8), Tamenglong (6), Maipakpi (5), Advance Hospital (3), Thoubal (3), Kangpokpi (3), Ukhrul (3), CMC (2), Little clinic (2), Chamber of Commerce (2), Mother's Care (1), Swiss Clinic (1), Christian Hospital (1), Ema Hospital (1) and Public Hospital (1).On the other hand, 33 persons recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours.
While 14 of them recovered while under home isolation, the remaining have been discharged from RIMS (8), SHRI (8), Bal bhavan (2) and RD Wing (1) .
The cumulative number of positive cases is 33,733 (general population 30,109 and Central security personnel 3,624).The cumulative number of recovered cases is 30,295 (general population 26,828 and Central security personnel 3,467) .
The recovery rate stands at 89.80 per cent.
The number of active cases is 2,991 (general population 2,839 and Central security personnel 152) .
The number of people vaccinated in the State so far is 2,42,359 .
The COVID-19 Control Room also informed that in the last 24 hours, 667 D-type oxygen cylinders and 516 B-type oxygen cylinders have been given to different healthcare institutions.
Further, it also asked air passengers who arrived on May 3 by Air India flight AI-3713 in rows 12-18 to inform the control room at 1800-345-3818 or to their respective District Surveillance Officers for further surveillance and necessary testing.
