Imphal, May 06 2021:
The All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU), Imphal West district committee burnt smokeless tobacco products worth about Rs 4 lakh at Lamphel this morning.
The tobacco products were reportedly seized from one Nitish Kumar who runs a business at Thangal Bazar.
Speaking to media persons, AMSU Imphal West president, Lukram Malangba said that collective efforts are required to check the sale of such prohibited items.
Asserting that AMSU will continue its anti-tobacco drive, he appealed all to support the endeavour of the student body.
Malangba also appealed to the State Government to play a major role in stopping the sale and consumption of intoxicants which are a threat to public health.
Apart from carrying out the drive against intoxicants, AMSU is also prepared to lend a hand to the Government in making essential items available to the public, he added.
