Biswajit assures to disburse MGNREGS wages

Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (RD&PR) minister Tongam Biswajit has assured to disburse the wages of job card holders, sanctioned as part of wage component under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), as soon as possible.
Speaking in this regard, Biswajit informed that the state government despite facing a huge fnancial crunch recently released Rs 83.64 crore of wage component under MGNREGS for job card holders with the aim of alleviating the sufering of the scheme benefciaries at least for few days ago.
Tus, he urged the district programme coordinators and ofcials concerned to work sincerely and ensure the funds are delivered to the deserving job card holders without fail.
The minister continued that the government has been actively trying to support the people particularly the job card holders amidst the second wave of the pandemic and will continue to so in the future.
Cautioning representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and ZP members not to try and utilise the funds sanctioned as MGNREGS wage component for other purposes other than distributing it to job card holders; Biswajit further cautioned against any attempt by elected members to portray the department and the government in bad light on social media platforms, just because they could not misuse the funds meant for the people.
Recalling the recent protests by PRIs for non-disbursement of MGNREGS wages, the minister reminded all concerned that the funds sanctioned are to be disbursed to job card holders, regardless of the number of work days.
If any job card holder has not received his/her wages, they must inform the authority concerned, he conveyed.
