Yoga demonstration marks Yoga Day celebration

Imphal, June 21 2022: As observed across the world, different departments, organisations, educational institutions and individuals celebrated the 8th International Yoga Day on the theme 'Yoga for Humanity' by performing yoga demonstration at different places on Tuesday.

Under the joint aegis of Ministry of Ayush and Ministry of Education, Manipur University celebrated the state level International Yoga Day at Loktak lake, Sendra boating centre.

The state level celebration was conducted at Loktak Lake as it was selected as one of the 75 iconic places for celebrating the event and the ministry assigned Manipur University for organising the event.

The celebration was attended by Minister of State for Development of North East Region (DoNER) BL Verma as chief guest, Thanga MLA T Robindro as president and MU VC Prof N Lokendro as guest of honour.

Led by BL Verma, over 500 people from various walks of live including Yoga practitioners from different parts of the state, students and officials of the Manipur University join the yoga demonstration.

The mass demonstration held in Mysore with Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also telecast live at the venue.

Yoga helps promote a balanced development of the physical, mental, and spiritual being, said the DoNER minister BL Verma.

He further said that Yoga, which was practiced by the sages in the past, is now being adopted by people of all walks of life across the globe.

"We must thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bringing up Yoga to the international level", he said, while asserting that it was Prime Minister Modi who pushed for observance of the Yoga Day at the international level.

The popularity of Yoga is increasing day by day across the globe after realizing the benefits of Yoga practice, he opined.

Meanwhile, Kreeda Bharati, Manipur organised International Yoga Day at Manipur Trade cum Permanent Exhibition Centre, Lamboi Khongnangkhong in the presence of MAHUD minister Y Khemchand, Kreeda Bharati Manipur president T Subashchandra and RSS Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Sunil Ambedkar as presidium members.

Department of Tourism in association with India Tourism Office, Imphal also celebrated International Day of Yoga 2022 at the Tourist Resort, Loktak Lake and Loktak Development Authority at Champu Khangpok Floating Village, Loktak.

BJP Manipur also organised Yoga Day at Khongjom War Memorial Complex, Khongjom by performing yoga demonstration.

Bharat Swabhiman Trust, Patanjali Yoga Smiti, Yuva Bharat, Mahila Patanjali Yoga Samiti and Kishan Seva Samiti Manipur jointly celebrated Yoga Day at Gopinath Mandir, Ningthoukhong and Shree Shree Bijoy Govindajee Temple Sagolband.

The event was also jointly celebrated by Bharat Swabhiman Trust, Patanjali Yoga Samiti, Yuva Bharat, Mahila Patanjali Yoga Samiti, Kishan Seva Samiti Imphal East District along with Village Development Sporting Club Pukhao Laipham and Chaokhathpagi Mangai VLF Pukhao Khabam at Pukhao Laipham community hall.

Yoganiti Society along with Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Sangathan, Imphal under Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports celebrated the day at Inter-state bus terminus Dewlahland while PHIDAM 1976's health club organised the celebration at Rajmoni Hospital, Soibam Leikai Ahongei Leirak.

Continuous Medical Education (CME) and IAPWC Manipur State celebrated Yoga day at RDO College of Nursing, Lamdeng.

The Manipur State Bharat Scouts and Guides also organised Yoga day at State Training Centre, Langol and Imphal East Yogasana Sports Association at Nongpok Panthoibi community hall, Kongba.

GP Women's College along with NCC cadets; Yoga Naturopathy Centre, Chamber hospital; Shri Shri Radha Govinda Yoga Centre located at Uripok Laikhurembi Leikai; Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development, Imphal; Regional Institute of Medical Sciences and Ibotombi Institute of Education, Kha Naorem Leikai Canchipur, District Hospital Chandel and Manipur Technical University celebrated International Yoga Day at their respective premises.

Vivekanartda Kendra Kanyakumari, Manipur Bivag Pangei organised Yoga day celebration at RK Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya and District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Chandel at CJM Chandel.

High Court Legal Services Committee along with High Court of Manipur, High Court Bar Association of Manipur and Manipur State Legal Services Authority celebrated International Yoga day at Manipur High Court com plex; Narcotics & Affairs of Border along with Laipham Khunou Youth Development Association at Ima Panthoibi Shanglen, Laipham Khunou; Bishnupur district police at Kiyamba Shanglen; 1st MR and Art of Living Manipur at 1st MR Banquet hall; BSF Sector Headquarters CI (Ops) at Koirengei campus; 29 Bn BSF CI posts at their respective posts; BWWA at Koirengei campus drill shed; STC/BSF Churachandpur at Satish parade ground of the training centre; 113 Bn BSF technical headquarters Loktak at its headquarters; 165 Infantry Battalion TA (HND) Assam at Muni Urak Yoga Centre, Malom; 44 AR under IGAR (East) 22 Sector at Veteran Sadan, Tamenglong and other outposts in Tamenglong and Kangpokpi; 107 Infantry Battalion TA in Noney; Central Agricultural University, Lamphelpat at its head office and 13 colleges, 6 Krishi Bigyan Kendras under the university at their respective premises; Thoubal district police at SP office complex and police stations under the district police namely Thoubal, Khongjom, Lilong, Nongpok Sekmai, Heirok and Yairipok PS at their respective police stations; Indian Institute of Information Technology (HIT), Manipur at Mantripukhri; District Administration Chandel at Women Market, Jaiphou Bazar; Police Headquarters Chandel; NYK, NCC and NSS at UCC College and All Manipur Gorkha Ex-Servicemen (Defence & CAPF) Association at Kanglatongbi community hall.

District Yoga Training and Research Association (DYTRA), Head Office, Kakching and Kakching District Yogasana Sports Association (KDYSA), Kakching jointly celebrated International Yoga Day at Kakching garden, while Kha Manipur Yoga and Nature Cure Association, Kakching organised it at Anandasingh Yoga and Nature Cure Research Hospital, Kakching Chumnang Leikai Machin Manao Chinglak.

Chandel district Police also celebrated Yoga Day at its district headquarters and also at all police stations and outposts under the district police.

Performing Arts Centre 'TAPASYA' celebrated International Yoga Day and World Music Day at its rehearsal hall located at Singjamei Pebiya Pandit Leikai.
