Oxygen plant to be installed at Bishnupur DH soon

Imphal, July 10 2021: Bishnupur District Hospital will soon have an Oxygen Plant installed which will bring much relief to patients as the facility will ensure ample supply of oxygen during emergencies such as Covid-19.In a release, MaolKeki Foundation informed the Plant project has been made possible through the benevolence of a group of well-wishers for the state of Manipur who have collectively raised money to donate a PSA Plant.

The Plant is manufactured by Oreco of Denmark and has a flow rate of 9 cubic meters per hour (150 LPM) while the compressor, dryer and buffer tank are from Atlas Copco, India.

It has been fitted with high-powered compressor keeping in mind the altitude of 800 metres and the atmospheric pressure and humidity here in Manipur, it added.

MaolKeki Foundation stated that the donors are the alumni of Delhi Technological University, 1994 batch and friends; IIM Bangalore Educational Foundation in the United States and Sehat Foundation in Delhi.

The international coordination was facilitated by the Breathe Life Into India Pan IIM Alumni team in Singapore, St Stephen's College Alumni in Singapore and the Indian Embassy in France.

Chief minister N Biren Singh had blessed the initiative early in June 2021 and it is being implemented with the support of key members of the government and the Health Department namely, Directorate of Health Services director Dr K Rajo Singh, principal secretary (Health and Family Welfare) V Vumlunmang and senior staff from Bishnupur DH medical superintendent Dr N Bino Singh, chief medical officer Dr N Gyaneshwar Singh, medical officer Dr John Khumanthem amongst others, it stated.

MaolKeki Foundation further mentioned that the well-wishers who are based around the world have raised money for the Oxygen Plant and its components amounting to over Rs 27 lakh in total while the state government is contributing the funds needed to construct the site where the Oxygen Plant will be installed.

Seva Bharati and MaolKeki Foundation are jointly facilitating the process of bringing the Plant to Manipur and putting it to service in the greater interest of the people of Bishnupur district and beyond, it said.
