Lamkang Khunjai, BJBY win volleyball titles

Chandel, December 14 2023: Lamkang Khunjai were crowned champions in men's category while BJBY (Behbeh Joyngam Behbeh Yumas) won the veteran category in the 1st Christmas Volleyball Meet 2023 held at Ss Mohring village in Chandel district on Thursday.

In the final match of the veteran category, BJBY defeated Lamkang Khunjai by 3-0 in a five-setter final with a thrilling score of 26-24, 26-24 and 25-19.L Loveson of BJBY was awarded the best veteran player of the tournament.

In the men's final, Lamkang Khunjai defeated Thotcharam by 2-1 sets with a score of 25-13, 23-25 and 25-22.It was set to be a five -setter final but due to time constraint, the final was reduced to 3 sets.

However, despite being reduced to 3 sets, it was a final worth watching, which was evident from the final score.

Sk Starson of Lamkang Khunjai was adjudged the best male player of the tournament.

Organised by the Chandel District Volleyball Association, the tournament was sponsored by Ss Olish, MLA of Chandel-41 (ST) AC, who also attended the event as chief guest.

Addressing the final, the MLA encouraged everyone to take up sports not just for a healthy life but also for profession.

She further said that being a sportsperson needs to be a disciplined person.

Ts Chamna Anal, president of DSA Chandel and Hl Lovingson, vice president of the DSA Chandel, also attended the finale and encouraged the participants and the association to take volleyball in Chandel to new heights.
