Imphal, April 04 2023:
Jotin Pheiroijam scalped four wickets and hit an unbeaten half century but his efforts went in vain as Manipur went down by 19 runs to Nagaland in the day and night final match of the 1st NECDC Interstate Friendship Tournament hosted by Nagaland.
After being put in to bat first at Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Dimapur yesterday, hosts Nagaland amassed 192 runs for 9 in 35 overs and held Manipur to 173 for 8 in the chase to secure the top honour of the regional event.

Nagaland did not have the best of the start and were reduced to 15 for 2 in 4.1 overs with Jotin removing Yougei (4) for the first wicket and bowling out Hem (3) for the second wicket.
Jonathan Rongsen then played a lone hand to keep the scoreboard ticking despite seeing his partners- Sede caught behind for the third wicket of the bowling of Bikash Singh and Hoakito Zhimoni getting run out by RK Rex for 15 runs and Imliwati getting caught out for 22 runs by Sultan Karim of the bowling of Jotin Pheiroijam for the fifth wicket.
Jonathan Rongsen was however undone by RK Rex for 78-ball 80 in the fifth delivery of the 33rd over for the 6th wicket as the scoreboard read 172 .
Manipur tightened the grip and Jotin collected his fourth scalp by bowling out Tahmeet Rahman for 36 runs to apply break to the innings.
Chasing 193 for the win, Manipur had a sloppy start and slumped to 60 for 4 in 15.1 overs as Nagaho Chishi and Khrievitso Kense combined well to share two wickets each.
Despite losing a flurry of wickets, Manipur found a notable partnership between Md Sultan Karim and Jotin Pheiroijam who forged a 50-run partnership to take the team past the 100 run mark.
After losing Sultan (32) for the fifth wicket at 110, Jotin tried to hang on but lost the momentum with Nagaho Chishi picking up two more wickets and Manipur eventually ended the innings at 173 runs for 8 to finish runners up.
Jonathan Rongsen who topscored for Nagaland was adjudged man of the match.
Manipur's Jotin Pheiroijam emerged the best batter of the tournament as Nagaho Chishi finished highest wicket taker and Jonathan Rongsen was adjudged player of the tournament.
