Manipur emerge team champions at Thang-Ta nationals

Imphal, November 29 2023:
Manipur were crowned team champions of the 29th National Sub-Junior & Senior Thang-Ta Championship 2023, which was held from November 24-26 at Harivansh Tana Bhagat Indoor Stadium, Mega Sports Complex, Khel Gaon, Hotwar, Ranchi, Jharkhand.
The state team amassed 56 medals overall.
Their medal haul included 41 gold, 10 silver and five bronze that earned them 287.3 points and made them dominant champions of the competition participated by 21 states.
Manipur's team consisted of 35 male and 29 female Thang-Ta athletes.
Jammu & Kashmir were team runners-up with 145.8 points courtesy of their 12 gold, 18 silver and 27 bronze medals, while Assam completed the top three with 14 gold, 17 silver and 17 bronze medals.
A total of 549 athletes (302 males & 247 females) took part in the three-day competition with 303 medals on offer.
The participating teams were Huyel Langion Thang-Ta Association Manipur, Jammu & Kashmir Thang-Ta Association, Thang-Ta Association of Haryana, Assam Thang-Ta Association, Madhya Pradesh Thang-Ta Association, Bihar Thang-Ta Association, Jharkhand Thang-Ta Association, Delhi Thang-Ta Association, Thang-Ta Martial Arts Assn of Pondicherry, Punjab Thang-Ta Association, Thang-Ta Association of Gujarat, Bengal Thang-Ta Association, Thang-Ta Sports Association of Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh Thang-Ta Association, All Maharashtra Thang-Ta Association, Thang-Ta Association Kerala, Chhattisgarh Thang-Ta Association, Odisha Thang-Ta Association, Rajasthan Thang-Ta Association, All Tripura Thang-Ta Association, and Telangana Association of Thang-Ta.
