Thoubal district boxing meet concludes

Thoubal, May 20 2024: H Jenika Devi (youth women 52 kg) and OK Gung (elite men 60 kg) emerged champions in their respective categories in the 4th Thoubal District Boxing Championship 2024 organised by Thoubal District Amateur Boxing Association (THOUDABA) from May 18.In the final bouts on Monday, H Jenika of MSBA defeated Roshita Maibam (MBA), while Ok Gung of MBA outsmarted his club-mate L Romance.

In other final bouts of the championship, Y Srinivas Singh (SAI) beat T Jaysana Singh (MSBA) in sub junior boys' 46 kg, Athoisana (MBA) defeated Md Alam (MSBA) in sub junior boys' 56 kg, K Diviyabati (SRBA) got the better of MP Binita (MBA) in sub junior girls' 50 kg, Th Thoiba Singh (MBA) overcame Kh Malemnganba (KBA) in junior boys' 46 kg, Th Naotomba (MBA) prevailed over P Sailesh (JBAK) in junior boys'54 kg, and M Max Chanu (MBA) was declared the winner over N Sushibala Devi of SAI in the junior girls ' 46 kg after referee stopped the contest (RSC) .

The closing function of the championship, which was participated by 75 boxers, was attended by SAI retired deputy director and Dronacharya awardee (boxing) L Ibomcha Singh as chief guest and organising committee president and SAI retired assistant director K Michael Singh as president, while Manipur Police Department SP (Sports) and Arjuna awardee (boxing) L Sarita Devi, MABA advisor and THOUDABA founder president N Kuber Singh, Wangjing Gram Panchayat ex-pradhan nominee T Bimol Singh, Thoubal DOA treasurer Ok Budhi Singh and Lamjing Meira Maheikol, Wangjing Heituppokpi founder Y Nongpoknganba were guests of honour.
