11th Manipur State League : USA, TRUGPU draw 3-3; NACO beat YPhU

Imphal, September 19 2016: USA, Khurai and TRUGPU, Nambol were held in a 3-3 draw while NACO, Nambul Mapal scrapped past YPhU, Lalambung 2-1 today in the ongoing 11th Manipur State League at Mapal Kangjeibung.

In the first match of the day, USA came from behind to hold TRUGPU to a 3-3 draw.

TRUGPU maintained a 2-0 lead by the end of the first half.

Y Gojen scored the opener for TRUGPU in the 15th minute before L Bikram extended the lead in the 29th minute.

Even as USA struggled hard to find the equalisers, their efforts went fruitless till the end of the first half.

However, USA surged in the second half and mounted more pressure on TRUGPU defenders.

They were rewarded for their efforts when N Premjit slotted home a goal in the 56th minute.

With a 2-1 advantage, TRUGPU continued playing attacking game and found reward as Y Gojen scored his second in the 61st minute.

In a span of two minutes, Ng Tomarjit pulled one back for USA.

Penalty was awarded against TRUGPU when their custodian brought down USA striker Jangkhokai Kilong in the additional time.

N Premjit converted the penalty to restore parity.

In the second league encounter of the day, NACO also came from behind to register a thrilling 2-1 win over YPhU.

It was Y Jameson who put YPhU on the lead when he found his target in the 27th minute.

Th Modhumangol of NACO levelled the score line as he was bang on target in the 41st minute.

The first half ended with a 1-1 draw.

After the break, both sides made attempts to make inroads into each other's citadel.

However, none could succeed easily.

Th Modhumangol found the net of their opponents once again in the 83rd minute and that eventually sealed the victory of NACO.

FC Zalen and TRAU will lock horns tomorrow at 2 pm.

At the same time, AMFA has prohibited spectators/supporters of the ongoing 11 th MSL bringing of water bottles, intoxicant items etc inside Mapal Kangjeibung stadium with effect from tomorrow, according to a statement issued by AMFA.
