Imphal, September 19 2016:
Staying that they have detected presence of favouritism, nepotism and corruption in the recruitment to different posts of Manipur University of Culture, Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has demanded the authority concerned to cancel the result of the interview declared on September 17 .
In a statement, DESAM said that MUC's VC and Registrar must be held responsible for any eventuality if the varsity commences session before the irregularities are rectified.
The students' body said that the varsity issued separate advertisements for the appointment of four faculties in Department of Languages, three faculties of Culture and Cultural Studies, four faculties of Thang-Ta, two faculties of Umanglai Haraoba, three faculties of Sankirtana, two faculties of Tribal Studies and two faculties of Theatre (Direction and Acting) on June 21 and July 19 this year.
As DESAM detected presence of favouritism, nepotism and corruption in the recruitment process during the course of an independent enquiry, the students' body requested the varsity authority to discuss the matter before the declaration of interview results.
However, the varsity authority hurriedly declared the interview results on September 17 without heeding the request of DESAM.
Stating that DES AM and the culture-loving people of Manipur would never allow such malpractices in the varsity, the students ' body demanded that the interview result be cancelled at the earliest.
