Governor Gurbachan Jagat has extended greetings to the people of the State on the occasion of Janmasthami.
In his message the Governor said, "While celebrating this occasion, we should rededicate ourselves to the ideals, eternal values and the path of righteousness as espoused by Him (Lord Krishna) through Srimad Bhagavad Geeta.
His message of love, mercy, duty and sacrifice has become more and more important in the present situation of the society, when the atmosphere is vitiated with social tension, enmity, hatred, violence and mistrust" .
Inspector General Assam Rifles (south) Maj Gen CA Krishnan and all ranks of Assam Rifles have extended warm greetings and sincere good-will to the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami.
A PRO IGAR (S) release also conveyed the Major General's wish that the festival herald an era of peace, progress and prosperity in the region and enhance the spirit of unity, cohesiveness and brotherhood amongst the warm and friendly people of all communities of the State.
