Two staff members of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) were abducted by suspected NSCN (IM) cadres at gunpoint from Senapati district headquarters even as the official of the district fishery office, Senapati was released unharmed.
The two, identified as Laishram Ibomcha (50) of Thambalkhong in Imphal east district and Elangbam Pishak (57) of Hiyanglam Awang Leikai in Thoubal district, were abducted yesterday afternoon, at 2.15 pm, the report received here said today.
They were abducted by the miscreants while they were at the bus stand waiting to return home after office hours.
The motive behind the abduction could not be ascertained but source believe that they were taken into captivity in connection with an extortion demand.
In the meantime, the official of the district fisheries office in Senapati district kidnapped by suspected cadres of an underground group was released today after two days in captivity.
The District Fishery Officer, S Lolli of Sajouba village, posting at District Fishery Office in Senapati was abducted by the miscreants from his official quarter at the district headquarters Monday evening, the report said.
