Police is yet to register a case on the controversial missing of a school boy studying in Hundred Flower Higher Secondary, Khomidhok.
So far no clues have emerged that can be the basis of registering an FIR.
Md Rohit alias Lemba was studying at Hundred Flower School and has been missing since August 19.The family and locals who formed a joint action community was pressing the school authority to hand over the boy alleging that the school authority should be held responsible for the missing.
They had also threatened to call a 24-hour statewide general strike from midnight of September 5 till midnight of next day if the school authority fails to produce the missing boy.
To ease the controversy between the JAC and school authority, members of the Coalition on Children's Rights to Protection, Manipur today conducted a inquiry into the circumstances that led to the missing of the student.
Md Manowar Ali, Secretary of the JAC reaffirmed that the JAC will go ahead with the general strike if their demand to hand over the student to his parents is not fulfilled.
A public meeting cum sit-in-protest will also be staged tomorrow at Mayang Imphal Bengoon where the missing boy hails from.
The secretary further blamed the school authority alleging that no appropriate action to find out the missing student has been taken up from their side.
Even though a complaint was lodged at Heingang Police Station with regard to the missing, no case has been was registered till date.
The JAC had also informed students' bodies like DESAM and AMSU, and had called for support from other NGOs and civil societies to extend support to the JAC in finding out the student and press the school authority to take action to find out the missing student.
After visiting the house of the parents of Rohit at Hatta Golapati, the CCRP, Manipur team went to Heingang police station to inquire about police action on the missing report.
The OC of the station Itao Khallen Ashangbam admitted that he had received complaints lodged by the parents and school authority on the missing of the student.
Statements of at least six persons have been recorded but no clues emeregd that could be the basis of registering an FIR.
He had also submitted a report to the district police headquarters.
Registration of a case in the matter will depend on the decision of the SP, he added.
