A new bi-lingual daily newspaper The Shirui Lily Times has started to hit the stands in Ukhrul district headquarter since August 16.With this new edition-Ukhrul now boasts of having two local dailies published in their own dialect.
The other Tangkhul daily is Aja -edited by Mrs Valley Rose Hungyo,the only lady editor of the state.
Owned and published by Shimreingam A.Shatsang, The Shirui Lily Times is jointly edited by the publisher himself and another dynamic editor Ngakuini A Shatsang.On the reason behind launching a daily in Ukhrul, owner cum editor Shimreingam said,taking into consideration the vast gap between our 'news-starved' society and the 'ever progressing' global media upsurge, an immediate need was felt by all to bridge this huge gap.
"We, as evolving society can never afford to isolate ourselves from the events taking shape in the land and the rest of world.",he added.
"This endeavor is sincerely an attempt to connect ourselves with the constant changes of the global village".

Among the nine districts of the state-Churachandpur district has as many as four local dailies published in kuki-chin-mizo dialects while the so called most backward district-Tamenglong has D'Cham.
The Churachandpur based dailies are Hmasawnna,Lamka Post,Manipur Express and Sikni-Eng.
With all these dailies,2.5 million populated Manipur has 18 daily morning newspapers.
There are 5 evening dailies all based in the capital Imphal.
