With an aim to foster the spirit of camaraderie and esprit de corps among students, Red Shield Division has kick started an inter-school sports and co-curricular activities trophy at its auditorium at Leimakhong garrison today.
Deputy GOC of 57 Mountain Division, Brig RS Grewal opened the trophy in a glittering function.
In the first leg of the trophy, students from Manipur Public School, Kendriya Vidyalaya Lamphel, Kendriya Vidyalaya Leimakhong, Sainik School Imphal, JNV Khumbong and Don Bosco Imphal competed in the quiz and debate competitions.
Dhana Kumar and Rinchin Namgey of Sainik School Imphal bagged the first prize in the quiz competition.
The second and third prizes went to the students of KV Lamphel and KV Leimakhong respectively.
In the debate competition, organised on the topic, 'Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) has brought radical changes in the education system', Ch Babina of KV Lamphel, Lamtar Nasi of Sainik School Imphal and A Geetchandra of JNV, Khumbong bagged the first, second and third prizes respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, Brig RS Grewal said that such competitions would enable the students to get ready for bigger competitions which would be faced in later parts of their life.
In the second leg of the trophy, these schools would compete in basketball and football competitions to be held at Sainik School, Imphal from September 6 to 9 in which GOC of 57 Mountain Division Maj Gen DS Hooda will preside over the function.
