Imphal, June 06, 2014: One hand grenade suspected to have been left by UG elements was found in front of a poultry feed centre belonging to Gurumayum Birjit Sharma (50) of Uripok Gopalji Leirak at around 8 am today.

The hand grenade was retrieved by police at around 8.30 am.

It is suspected that the explosive was left there in connection with a monetary demand, said a police source.

On the other hand, search operations were conducted yesterday at Nongbrang Ngamukhong and Somrei by a combined team of commandos led Thoubal Additional SP (Ops) Dr S Ibomcha and troops of 2nd Assam Rifles led by Lt Col Naveen.

There was no report of any arrest.
