Heirok locals stage sit-in to demand adequate potable water supply

Thoubal, December 01 2014 : Residents of Heirok AC in Thoubal district today staged a sit-in at Heirok Part-II bazar demanding adequate potable water supply to them.

The protest was jointly organised by Friends in Need Society (FINE Society) and Social Culture Education and Sports Development Organisation (SCEASDO).

The demonstrators displayed placards reading, 'We want potable water,' Look into the shortage of potable water in Heirok,' etc during the sit in.

The protesters said that the area is left without adequate potable water supply for the last fifteen years.

Although repeated appeals were made to the authority concerned, no response has been coming forth so far.

They warned that intense form of agitation would be launched unless the demand is met at the earliest.
