Imphal, December 01 2014 :
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the State on November 30 gave a big impetus to the ongoing membership enrolment drive of BJP Manipur Pradesh.
Notably, Narendra Modi, after attending the closing function of Manipur Sangai Festival 2014, showed up at the State BJP office at Nityaipat Chuthek last evening and advised the party leaders to expand and strengthen the party's base in Manipur.
There he appealed to all the people of Manipur to enrol themselves in BJP through the party's toll free telephone number.
Subsequent upon Narendra Modi's appeal, around 6,000 enrolment forms have been taken till late evening today, claimed BJP State unit general secretary (administration) M Ashinikumar.
Though it was for a very short time, Narendra Modi held a closed door meeting with the party's State unit president and other leaders yesterday.
On their part, the BJP State unit submitted a memorandum.
After perusing the points/demands highlighted in the memorandum, the Prime Minister reportedly assured to look into all those matters and translate them into action.
BJP State unit media coordinator L Basanta conveyed gratitude to all the people who came out to welcome Narendra Modi amidst the 'public curfew' announced by UG groups.
By visiting Manipur not long after assuming the office of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has demonstrated his empathy for the people of Manipur.
Narendra has also started transforming Look East Policy into 'Act East Policy', Basanta added.
