Irregular RIMS staff to face music

Taking serious note over numerous complaints from the public that doctors, laboratory technicians and employees of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) have been found absent during office hours on many occasions, the authority of the hospital has issued a notice cautioning that action will be taken up against those employees of the premier medical institute including doctors who do not attend office regularly.
The hospital authority has also minutely discussed to depute at least one doctor not less than the rank of Assistant Professor from each department in the Casualty Department of the hospital.
According to the notice, action will be initiated against any individual on the basis of records of irregular attendance and enrollment in biometric attendance.
If any employee is found not performing duty accordingly then his/her salary would be withheld as a first step.
Talking to this newspaper in this regard, Prof M Amuba, Medical Superintendent of RIMS said that complaints have been received from people coming to treat in the hospital that they are facing inconveniences due to the failure of the concerned doctors, laboratory technicians and other staff to attend office in time.
He pointed out that the decision to initiate action against neglect employees of the hospital including doctors was taken during a meeting of RIMS Hospital Development Committee chaired by Ch Arunkumar, Director of RIMS convened few days ago.
The meeting attended by Heads of Clinical Departments of the hospital also discussed to depute a doctor in the rank of Assistant Professor from each department in the Casualty Department on rotation basis, he informed.
He appealed to the public to extend cooperation to the decision adopted by the authority of the hospital.
