World aids Day widely observed across Manipur

The 27th World AIDS Day under the theme '"Getting to Zero : Zero New Infection, Zero Related Death, Zero Discrimination' was widely observed across the state today.
Thoubal : 27th World AIDS Day observance was also held at Thoubal district under the aegis of Thoubal branch of Manipur Network of Positive People (MNP+) today at Children's Creative Contemplative Educational Institute, according to our Thoubal correspondent Gyanand Naorem.
In the programme held under the theme "Getting to Zero : Zero New Infection, Zero Related Death, Zero Discrimination', retired Chief Medical Officer of District Hospital Thoubal Dr Ksh Manglem Singh and president of MNP+ Thoubal N Ranjit Singh attended as chief guest and president, while president of Kangleipak Women Welfare Association ( KWWA) AK Memcha Leima and member of Thoubal district BAR Association, advocate M Swami Singh were the guests of honour.
Around 70 people participated in the observance.
Jiribam: As observed throughout the world, World AIDS Day was commemorated today at Jiribam Sub-division in Imphal East district at Conference hall of AJMP, Nupi Lal complex, Babupara, Jiribam under the theme "Getting to Zero" .
Our Jiribam correspondent adds that the programme jointly organised by World AIDS Day observation Committee, All Jiribam Meira Paibee, Jiri Ima Meira Paibee Apunba Lup, WACAK and JIMWAK, was graced by O.Menjor Singh, Addl SP Jiribam Sub-Di vision and S Iboton Singh, Chief Functionary of CWA, Jiribam as chief guest and president respectively.

TIPTEEDS, Jiribam; RK Bijoysana Singh, Gen Secy of Child Welfare Ashram (CWA), Jiribam; S Sushila Devi, President of AJMP, Jiribam; H Mema Devi, President of JIMPAL; N Nivarani Devi, President of WACAK, Jiribam and Th Jini Devi, President of JIMWAK, Jiribam were also present as guests of honour.
Penninmoi, Project manager of TIPTEEDS, Jiribam gave the welcome address, while N Amita Devi, Staff Nurse of Child Welfare Ashram (CWA), Jiribam presented key note address.
H Rajen Kumar Singh, Lecturer of Jiribam Govt.Higher Secondary School spoke on various aspects of HIV/AIDS.
In his speech, chief guest O Menjor Singh appealed to the people to defend themselves from HIV and AIDS.
The programme was participated by Civil Society Orgnisations, Meira paibee groups and public leaders.
Churachandpur: According to our correspondent from Churachand pur, a mass rally was staged in Churachandpur town organised by the PPTCT project under Lamka Rehabilitation and Research Centre (LRRC) and various NGOs in observance of World AIDS Day, 2014 .
Lunminthang Haokip IAS Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur district released Job Cards along with an exhortation speech at office of Chief Medical Officer, Churachandpur.
Chandel : Chandel district also joined the rest of the world in observing the World AIDS Day with ADC of Chandel K Luckyson as Chief Guest at the function held at Indoor Stadium in Chandel today.
DAPCU, Chandel Dr.Kesho S Moirangthem and CNPO President Ws Kanral Anal attended the function as Functional president and Guest of Honour respectively.

The programme was organised by Chandel Network of Positive People and supported by Global Fund for AIDS TB Malaria (GFATM) .
Meanwhile, six different organisations namely Manipur Network of Positive People (MNP+), Socil Awareness Service Organisation (SASO), Care Foundation, Kripa Society, World Vision India and VIHAAN CSCS observed the World AIDS Day at a function held at Hotel Imphal today with Dr RK Rajo, Director of Family Welfare, Government of Manipur as chief guest.
During the programme presided over by Deneral Secretary of MNP+ Udita Salam, Dr Kh Lokeshwar, Nodal Officer of ART Centre JNIMS and Deputy Director of MACS Dr Meena were the guests of honour.
Gifts were presented to the media representatives, clinicians NGO workers etc.
in connection with the occasion.
