Zeliangrong Homeland Demand Day observed

Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN), in its Central Executive Meeting at Longmai Community Hall, Longmai Bazar on Sunday, recalled the Zeliangrong Homeland Demand Day which began its commemoration in 1982 .
According to a statement issued by its General Secretary, Dr Dairiangmei Maringmei, many people from three States of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland including senior leaders and village authorities attended the meeting which was chaired by Shri Raitu Chawang, President of Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN).
In the meeting, the President said, "On this day, the 30th November, our leaders had declared Zeliangrong Homeland Demand Day in 1982 at the Fourth Conference of the Zeliangrong People's Convention (ZPC) at Tamenglong District, Manipur.
It is the inalienable right of the Zeliangrong people to determine our political future and to secure to ourselves the political liberty, social justice and equal economic opportunities guaranteed in the Constitution of India" .
The President recalled the heroic struggle of the Zeliangrong leaders which fought against the mighty British rulers' policies of suppression and exploitations and expressed dissatisfaction with the continuation of the colonial policy by free India that arbitrarily scattered the population of Zeliangrong people separately in three States of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland.
He appealed to the Zeliangrong people to work harder, fight against to those who are trying to destruct the bond of consanguinity and accomplish the unfinished agenda of the forefathers.
Pamei Tingenglung, President of AZSU and Kadijanbou, President of ZSUM also spoke in the meeting on the confronting issues faced by the Zeliangrong people living in Assam, Manipur and Nagaland.
More than 50 motor biker youths of the Zeliangrong Ancestral Land Expedition (ZALE) team who visited different parts of Zeliangrong people inhabited areas in Assam, Manipur and Nagaland namely: Tening, Njauna, Magulong, Mount Kisha�Magulong Lalong, Hangrum, Laishong, Halflong, Ramgaijang, Silchar, Ramgaizang, Makoi, Tousem, Barak-waterfalls, Zeilad lake, Namtiram, Haochong, Phalong, Longmai etc.
during November 20 to 30 we also present in the meeting.
The ZALE team leader said, "We never expect that our people are still living in such a horrible condition.
No proper transport communication, absence of basic health care facilities, unavailability of water supply, lack of educational infrastructure, underdevelopment, unemployment etc." The ZALE team urged the frontal organization leaders of Zeliangrong to inspect the situations of the people of Zeliangrong living in the remote areas and demanded the three States' Governments to take necessary actions and bring about the social justice to the downtrodden people of Zeliangrong.
