Imphal, June 06, 2013:
The Students' Wing of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) has decried Chief Minister Okram Ibobi's remark on the movement of ILP as being anti-national.
Addressing media persons at the office of Students' Union of Kangleipak (SUK) at Kwakeithel here today, Convenor of Students' Wing Moirangthem Angamba said that the people of Manipur have taken up the ILP issue under the provisions of Article 19 (5) of the Indian Constitution to safeguard the rights of the indigenous people.
The ILP is not totally against the entry of non-locals.
It would restrict free entry by verifying the non-locals whenever they intend to come to the State.
The State government's remark comes as a shock to the people of the State who have been much affected by the dominance of non-locals, he averred.
