Chiefs against MGNREGS fund cut

While registering stiff opposition to the move of cutting 25% of MGNREGS fund by ADC members, various organisations of Chandel district have warned of resorting to different forms of agitation if the move of the ADC is not retracted.
Speaking to newspersons at S Kotlenphai in Chandel district today, representatives of various organisations conveyed their opposition to the move of cutting 25 percent of MGNREGS funds by the ADC.
The press meet was attended by the vice-president of All Tribal Chiefs' and Public Grievances Forum, Th Guite; general secretary of Naga Chiefs' Association, Tengnoupal Block, SK Angshel Lamkang; president of Kuki Chiefs' Association, Tengnoupal block, M Thangbul Haokip; president of Maring Chiefs' Association, Tengnoupal Block Solomon Dangsawa and various village leaders and job card holders.
Representatives of various organisations who spoke at the press meet pointed out that there are around 164 villages within Machi and Tengnoupal blocks of Chandel district.
They categorically questioned as to why the ADC of Chandel is contemplating to cut 25% of MGNREGS fund in Chandel while the same is not applicable in other hill districts.
Asserting that job card holders should enjoy their wages, they said that the DRDA or other concerned officials should not meddle in this matter.
