Imphal, August 29 2023: Taking strong exception to the State Government's failure to hold the State Assembly session even for a single day in a proper or meaningful manner, the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has asserted that there is no Government at all in the State.

August 29 is a very unfortunate day for the people of Manipur.

All the people's hope that the Assembly session would give a new direction to the crisis besieging Manipur has been belied, the COCOMI decried in a statement.

It is a matter of grave concern that the Manipur Legislative Assembly could not hold its normal session in the face of the conspiracy hatched by 10 Kuki MLAs in association with narco-terrorists to disintegrate Manipur.

The State Assembly's inability to take a single resolution on the current issue of Manipur is a testimony that the State Government is as good as dead, it said.

A mammoth rally organised by COCOMI on July 29 urged the Government to convene an Assembly session by August 5 but the Government summoned the session much later on August 29 .

But even the single-day session could not be held in a proper or meaningful manner, the COCOMI derided.

Contrary to its repeated and bold claims of being the people's Government, the incumbent Government is no longer a Government of the people.

It is clear that there is no connection between the Government and the people, it said.

Such a weak Government which is extremely subservient to the Centre will only create a dispirited and spineless society, it remarked.

Considering the Government's total indifference to the repeated appeals from different sections of people, it is now a big question if there is a hidden political agenda, the COCOMI said.

It said that the incumbent Government should ponder over how long a Government can last when it is rejecting every request and appeal of the people.

People's voice is God's voice.

The State Government which is not listening to the people's voice is as good as dead, the COCOMI asserted.

Today too, Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists attacked farmers at Naranseina, resulting in many casualties.

This incident is another testimony of Central paramilitary forces taking the side of narco-terrorists, it alleged.

The Centre and the State Government should take responsibility for all the casualties caused by the ruthless external aggression, it asserted.

"COCOMI believes that it would be far better if Manipur Police are given just 15 days to contain the chin-Kuki narco-terrorists as the more than 40,000 strong Central forces have failed to contain the terrorists", it added.

Manipur has been burning since the evening of May 3, leading to numerous deaths.
