Imphal, August 29 2023:
The attempt to break apart Manipur by 10 Kuki MLAs in collusion with Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists hampered the one-day session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly and this indeed was very unfortunate, stated Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) .
According to a COCOMI statement, inability of the state assembly to properly continue proceedings even the namesake session and failure to adopt resolution on the present issue clearly indicates non-existence of the government.
People of the state expected a new path to resolve the prolonged violence with the convening of the assembly but that did not happened at all and dashed the people's hope, the COCOMI said adding that August 29, 2023 will ever remain as the most unfortunate day for the people of Manipur.
The present government repeatedly claimed self as 'people's government' at one point of time but could do nothing in the interest of the people now and is virtually disconnected from the people.
With its over-dependence on the Centre and the inability to take own decision or action even as people are suffering for more than three months, state government's secret political agenda behind the present issue is being raised among various sections of people now, the COCOMI said and cautioned that a government cannot survive for long without the support of the people.
It further questioned as to how a government with administrators relying too much on others could please the people that too when people are in the forefront of resolving the present issue.
The attack on farmers at Naransena on Tuesday clearly shows carelessness of Central paramilitary forces and their open support to narco-terrorists, alleged COCOMI adding that both the Centre and state government must be responsible for casualties suffered in the attack.
As more than 40,000 Central paramilitary personnel deployed in the state could not control narco-terrorists, it would be better for handing over the responsibility to control narco-terrorist to Manipur police for at least for 15 days, the COCOMI emphasised.
Meanwhile, Coordinating Committee of 27 Assembly Constituencies said that the little over 10 minutes long state assembly session on Tuesday was not only a drama to save the present government but also clearly showcased government's unwillingness to discuss the present issue at all.
According to a statement of the committee, the manner in which the assembly session was convened and ended abruptly indicates that the session was called merely to save BJP's image and also patronise Kuki MLAs.
