Activist files FIR Clip of local nude man, woman goes viral on internet

Lamka, June 29 2013 : A video clip, apparently filmed by some individuals who had voluntarily taken up the task of moral policing but in doing so breaks all sense of sanity, has gone viral on the internet for the past few days, prompting a social activist to lodge an FIR and women organisations plotting a rage.

It all began when a video clip showing two love birds, who were apparently caught while they were in the act, starkly naked in vicinity around the Khuga Dam, began circulating on the web.

The video which zooms-in on the victims' private parts, and more importantly, shows clearly their faces has begun to raise eyebrows, as many people considered the clip as a humiliation rather than an attempt to morally police their acts.

A social activist, CT Lian Guite has approached the local police and lodge an FIR under section 354/341/34 IPC yesterday at around 11am, and apparently provided the clip which he said was received through a social network site.

As the police swung into action and more and more people getting hold of the demeaning clips, the Joint Women Organisation has as well taken up the case.

The JWO has even claimed that they have taken the statements of the victims and maintained that they have more than enough evidence to prove those who were behind the clip.

The SP Churachandpur, L Mangkhogin Haokip said they have taken the statement of the victims and was in the process of taking up necessary action.

President of JWO, JL Sawmi has meanwhile claimed that one of the victim was able to identify a man who was filming the video when they were caught in the act.

She added that they have got hold of not only the name but the address as well.

Quoting the victim, she said the victim has approached the person who filmed the video and who is suspected to be behind the circulation that quickly goes viral, to delete the clip days before the clip was uploaded on the internet.

The victim was assured that the clip has already been deleted but it proved otherwise.

She further claimed that the victim had told the JWO that the person in question has similar other clips of couples who were as well caught in the act around the same locality.

It seems the victims have to cough up a thousand or two to save the explicit clips from going public, she said.

The victims also reportedly told the JWO that the person in question had approached her to help him save his service after the clip he uploaded bounces back.

Clearly, the statement obtained by JWO from the victim would be incriminating enough to book the culprit(s), if proven by the police, and to institute further investigation on whether the culprit(s) were indulging in the acts of filming couple having sex to make easy money as was claimed by the victim.

It also indicated that the police would surely collect similar facts from the victims while obtaining their statements.

However words regarding talks on traditional lines between the victim's and culprit's family have been doing the rounds prompting the social activist who originally lodged the FIR to clarify that he would not withdraw his FIR even if a settlement was arrived at.

The JWO is as well set to discuss their future course of action tomorrow at 1pm.
