Imphal, February 20 2015 :
The Joint Action Committee on Kadangband killing is likely to impose a general strike in the State after its five day economic blockade.
Convener of the JAC Thangminlen Haokip lamented that despite the imposition of economic blockade, there has been no positive response from the State Government till date.
"There is no question of withdrawing or suspending the economic blockade on the part of the JAC unless the Government fulfils our demand, " Thangminlen added.
The convener further communicated the JAC's intention to hold a joint meeting with Kuki civil bodies before the economic blockade comes to a close.
The meeting, he added, will decide the further course of action which may include a State wide general strike.
"If the Government chooses to remain a mute spectator and no positive response, as such, is witnessed within the last two days of the economic blockade we will definitely intensify the protest to the further extreme level", Thangminlen cautioned.
The joint meeting of the JAC and Kuki civil bodies which is likely to be held on February 22 will decide and resolve what kind of intense agitation will be initiated.
The JAC convener further added that the it will hold the State Government responsible for any untoward incident during the economic blockade and in further course of agitation by the JAC.
