Cancer awareness & screening programme held at Keirao Bitra

Strengthening its relationship with the people of Manipur, Karkinos Manipur Cancer Institute & Research Centre and Panthoibi Youth Club today jointly organised a 1-day cancer awareness and screening programme (Cancer early detection programme) at Keirao Bitra in Imphal East district.
The health camp was conducted in collaboration with Irilbung Library Union, Youth Development Centre Club, Litan Makhong Youth Club and Keirao Khunou Youth Club with the objective to create awareness about cancer-care, importance of regular health check�up, early detection of cancer and prevention among the people, said a release issued by Karkinos.

The program was arranged with the support of Kungjakishore and his wife Sangeeta Nongthombam, residents of Keirao Bitra.
It was attended by Lourembam Rameshwor Meetei, MLA Keirao Assembly Constituency; Salam Kunjakishwor, Joint Secretary, Revenue & Arts and Culture, Government of Manipur; and Salam Modhumangol, president Panthoibi Youth Club, Keirao Bitra Lairembi Leikai.
Speaking on the occasion, Lourembam Rameshwor Meetei encouraged people to eat healthy food & natural organic products and avoid fertilizers, pesticides, etc.
He also appealed to the people to get health check-ups regularly and invited Karkinos Healthcare Manipur to organise a bigger camp of around 1000-2000 people in the near future.
The MLA also got his Cancer Risk Assessment (CRA) and blood test done.
Karkinos Healthcare Manipur's highly experienced medical team comprising of Dr S Opendro Singh, HOD Surgical Oncology; Dr K Rajo Singh, HOD Anaesthesiology; Dr Thangjam Nirpendra, Consultant, Radiation Therapy; Dr Arpana Okram, Dr Vivek, Dr Nandan, Dr Gunajit, Dr Khurshid, Dr Aparna Ghosh, Unit Head; Homen Chongtham, Marketing Head; W Imo Singh, Operations Manager, along with RMOs, Nurses, Dieticians & Lab Technicians provided medical care/ treatment to about 500 people from the Keirao Bitra during the camp.
The programme included General Health Check up, Oral Examination, Clinical Breast Examination, Cervical Screening (HPV) and Risk Assessment (CRA) along with an awareness session.
During the programme, several people were enrolled for ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) cards.
Many women also registered for HPV Test and HPV vaccination.
