PCRLAWM welcomes Government's move

Peoples Committee on Restoration of Loktak and it's Associated Wetlands Manipur (PCRLAWM) welcomed the Government's move of convening a meeting and deliberating on modernisation of Loktak Hydro-Electric Project and sustainability of Loktak lake.
PCRLAWM convenor Soibam Tomba while appreciating the Government's concern on saving the Loktak lake, maintained that Loktak lake and the brow antlered deer, Sangai cannot be saved without decommissioning the Loktak Hydro-Electric Project and Ithai Barrage Project.
He was addressing media persons during a press meet held at Sendra road today.
Tomba lauded the Government's move of deliberating on conservation of Loktak lake and the decision to conduct an environmental impact assessment before the modernization project.
He appealed to the authorities concerned to release the water blocked by Ithai Dam till the environmental impact assessment is conducted.
He further cautioned that the public will intensify their movement and will proceed with the resolutions passed on the public convention held on December 10 .
