Ukhrul, December 16 2023:
The monthly interaction programme for current media fellowship recipients of climate change reporting was held at Liklai Leima, Awang Potsangbam, Imphal, on Saturday.
Speaking at the event organised by the Directorate of Environment & Climate Change, its director Dr T Brajakumar Singh urged the climate change fellow recipients to remain dedicated in their work and maintain objectivity.
He also highlighted some key areas, such as reckless burning of staple produce, where journalists could focus their research.
As part of the programme, the media fellows shared their experiences and challenges in reporting on climate change.
They also provided valuable suggestions on how to improve the fellowship programme.
Some of the issues they raised included lack of data, difficulties in accessing reliable information and the need for a localised support system for journalists based on the topography of the region.
Among the attendees were Media Resource Centre coordinator Sobhapati Samom, The Sangai Express editor & Editors' Guild Manipur president Khogendra Khomdram and Media Resource Centre expert member & TPC columnist Salam Rajesh.
Staffers from the Directorate of Environment & Climate Change and All India Radio (AIR) were also present, as well as other media fellows.
