Speaking on the occasion, Dr W Gojen observed that Manipur is esteemed by the international community for its rich art & cultural heritage and achievements in the field of sports but the opportunity given to the cultural activists, artistes and sportspersons by the government is not at all satisfactory.
On top of this, the condition of artistes is even worse than sportspersons.
After holding several rounds of talks with the government on the plight of artistes, the chief minister N Biren-led government launched a scheme for their welfare.
The Government must continue to take up more such schemes for the artistes, he emphasised.
As part of the programme, participation certificates were presented to numerous artistes and 'Gurus' who attended the workshop as well as blankets to senior Citizens by ACRT.
The function ended with performance of workshop's production 'Ras Phangnaba' .
