Minister exudes confidence

Imphal, May 11 2013 : Inaugurating an educational fair that actually aims at acquainting local students with higher educational institutions in other cities of the country, Education Minister Moirang-them Okendro Singh strongly hinted at possibility of Mani-puri students preferring to pursue education in the State from this year on.

Speaking as the chief guest after opening a two-day 'Edufest 2013' event at GP women's College campus today, Minister Okendro anti- cipated that the number of manipuri students leaving the home state for higher studies will see a significant drop from this academic year.

To substantiate his optimistic viewpoint, Okendro said vision and determination of the State Government to establish educational institutions of repute for general, technical as well as professional courses would certainly encourage the students to stay and study in Manipur.

While about 2700 students left Manipur to pursue their academic aspirations in other States/cities the Government of Manipur's plan to set up educational institutions compatible with other States would certainly bring down the number of deflux of local students, expressed the Minister.

Applauding the event organisers for their initiatives of providing opportunity to the local students chose their choicest institutions, he noted that by enrolling and studying in more reputed institutions in other parts of the country the horizon to excel would be expanded and Manipuri students can aspire to look beyond the country for a more prosperous life.

According to event host - Lynchpin - director Kaushik Barua Edufest had been a regular feature in the North East region for over a decade even though it is only the third time that the educational fair is being conducted in Manipur.

In all 37 stalls to facilitate the local students explore educational opportunities availa- ble in the cities of Delhi, Bangalore, Mangalore, Gu-wahati and Pune are being put up by different institutes and universities.

The representatives of these institutions/universities are said to be their respective faculty members and director-level officials.
