Imphal, June 06, 2013:
The Kuki Students' Organisation (Sadar Hills) has demanded withdrawal of transport contract extension order to three valley transport contractors for WBNP (Rice) of the Social Welfare Department.
A statement issued by president of KSO (Sadar Hills) Thangminlen Kipgen, said the transport contractor for WBNP of the Social Welfare dept has been officially awarded to three firms - Ms Joyraj Transport Agency, Samaran Wangjing, Thoubal dist and Ms Gandhi Transport Agency, Nongdam Bazar, Imphal East.
All transport contractors (hill and valley) had deducted 11 percent previously and 13 percent (latest) and handed over to their fellow transport contractors namely Jibon, Jayentaram, Lulun Hmar and Leisang to be given to the concerned Minister for extension of the contracts.
But sadly, the contract has been extended for only three valley contractors, the KSO alleged.
Alleging that it is unethical and against the developmental policy for hill and valley, the KSO said the Social Welfare dept should be held responsible for any untoward course of action in future.
