Senapati, April 03 2020: The Northern Maram Youth & Students' Organization (NMSYO) has reached out to non-local students of Don Bosco College Maram who stay on rent and other non-local residents who have been stuck up at Maram locality due to the present lockdown which is imposed as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of COVID-19 .

Altogether 97 individuals from different parts of the State and those from Jharkhand, Arunachal, Sikkim were distributed food items, including rice (5 kg), dal ( 2 kg) potato ( 2 kg) as a temporary relief.

The non-local students were conveyed that as the fate of National lockdown that resulted to the closure of markets, is still not yet known, they were assured that all possible help from NMSYO reminding them to continue to feel at home and not as strangers in such a situation.

The non-local students reside in the proximity of the College campus encircling from Kavanam village to Maram Centre, Sagongbam, Maram Bazar, Ramlong, New-Maram & Lairouching.

Personal details of all the students were taken and the helpline number of NMSYO were provided in case of any emergency or help.

Meanwhile, they were also advised to maintain social discipline and avoid gathering in groups by NMYSO.

IMPHAL: In a bid to alleviate the hardships during the ongoing lockdown and curfew, Uchekon Nongchup Zilla Parishad Member Seram Neken and Pebiya Pandit Leikai Youth Development Organisation (PPLYDO) distributed edible oils, salt and vegetables to the locals of Pebiya Pandit Leikai Thursday.

The volunteers of PPLYDO delivered the food items to every household while maintaining a safe distance.

They also raised awareness about the COVID-19 during their distribution campaign.

The volunteers also carried out sanitization work under the aegis of Uchekon Nongchup Zilla Parishad Member, Torban Kshetri Leikai GP and concerned Ward Member on Wednesday.

Leipham Khunou Zilla Parishad Member, Lairanjam Olen handed over food and other items to the ward members of Lairik Yengbam Leikai Gram Panchayat and Laipham Khunou Gram panchayat to be distributed to the people.

Moreover, he also collaborated with the local clubs and disinfected various locations with Sodium Hypochloride.

THOUBAL: To ease the shortage of food supply during the lockdown which is imposed as a measure to break the transmission chain of COVID-19 pandemic, O Inaotombi who is the Councillor of Thoubal Municipal Council Ward No 1 distributed edible items including cooking oil, salt, potato and pulse to around 800 households at her own expense.

The noble campaign to provide food items to the residents of Thoubal Okram and Wangmataba Sorok Makha was carried out with volunteers of local clubs namely YDO, SARU, SSAWA and OYC.

The Councillor also urged all to strictly follow the orders and guidelines issued by authorities concerned during her campaign.

Similar work was also carried out at various locations of Thoubal and Imphal East districts.

BJP Keirao Mandal president, Haobam Kanta also distributed edible items along with 5 kg rice to distressed individuals at Sandang Semba Maring Khul, Poirou Tongba, Phunal Maring and Waithu Chiru under the supervision of Lourembam Rameshor, MLA Keirao AC .

The booth level distribution programme reached the third day today.

Creative Youth Organisation (CYO), Thoubal Sapam also doled out food and essential items to around 300 households of its locality.

The club also expressed gratefulness to all who contributed to the CYO COVID-19 Relief Fund and pledged all possible support to the Government's fight against the new disease which has claimed more than 55,000 lives worldwide.
